E-27

Samsung Oven/Range Error Code E-27 — Oven Temperature Sensor Open Circuit

Moderate Fix 30–60 minutes Tools: Multimeter, Phillips screwdriver, 1/4-inch nut driver

What this means

The E-27 error code specifically indicates an open circuit in the oven temperature sensor loop. Unlike a general sensor error, E-27 points to a break in the circuit — either the sensor element itself has failed open, a wire in the harness is broken, or the connector is loose. The oven will not heat until this is resolved because it cannot monitor cavity temperature.

Alternate codes: E27

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check the sensor connector

Turn off the breaker. Remove the rear panel of the range. Find the two-pin connector where the temperature sensor harness plugs into the control board harness. Unplug it, inspect for corrosion or bent pins, plug it back in firmly.

Corrosion on the pins is a common culprit — gently clean contacts with fine sandpaper or electrical contact cleaner.

2

Test the sensor for continuity

With the sensor disconnected, place your multimeter leads on the two sensor wires at the connector. You should read approximately 1,080–1,100 ohms at room temperature. An OL (open line) reading confirms the sensor or its wiring is broken.

Test at the sensor end as well — if the sensor itself reads good but the connector end reads OL, the wire harness has a break.

3

Inspect the wiring harness

Trace the sensor wires from the rear wall of the oven cavity to the control board connector. Look for pinch points, heat damage, or rodent chew marks. Pay special attention where the wires pass through the rear oven wall — heat cycling can make insulation brittle.

If you find a single break, you can splice and solder it with high-temperature wire and heat-shrink tubing as a quick repair.

4

Replace the temperature sensor

If the sensor itself reads OL, remove the mounting screw(s) inside the oven cavity, pull the probe out through the rear wall, disconnect the harness, and install the new sensor. Restore power and run a bake test.

After replacing the sensor, preheat to 350 °F and verify with an oven thermometer that the temperature is accurate within ±10 °F.

When to call a professional

If the wiring and sensor both test good but the error remains, the control board's sensor input may be defective. A technician can verify and replace the board.
