Samsung Oven/Range Error Code E-0A — Oven Temperature Runaway / Exceeded Limit
What this means
The E-0A error code is a safety shutoff that triggers when the oven temperature exceeds the control board's maximum allowable limit. While similar to E-OA, the E-0A code can appear on different Samsung model lines and may have slightly different threshold values. Root causes are the same: a malfunctioning temperature sensor feeding false low readings, a relay stuck in the on position, or a failed cooling fan allowing control electronics to overheat.
Alternate codes: E0A
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsAllow the oven to cool completely
Turn off the oven and open the door. Wait at least 30–60 minutes for the cavity to return to room temperature. Then turn off the breaker for two minutes and restore power.
Place a standalone oven thermometer inside the cavity before the next test so you can compare the actual temperature to the display.
Test the temperature sensor
Turn off the breaker. Disconnect the temperature sensor harness at the rear of the oven. Measure resistance across the sensor leads — it should read approximately 1,080–1,100 ohms at room temperature. A significantly low reading causes the board to overshoot.
Even a reading of 900 ohms (instead of 1,080) is enough to cause runaway heating — the board thinks the oven is cooler than it actually is.
Verify the cooling fan operation
Restore power and start a bake cycle. Listen at the back or top of the oven for the cooling fan. If you don't hear it running within two minutes of the oven reaching temperature, the fan motor may have failed.
The cooling fan is separate from the convection fan. It blows air across the control board area, not inside the oven cavity.
Inspect the control board relays
If sensor and fan are both good, the bake or broil relay on the main control board may be welded shut, sending continuous power to the heating element. Turn off the breaker, remove the board, and visually inspect the relays. A technician can also test them with a multimeter.
A clicking sound from the relay when the oven cycles on and off is normal. Silence or continuous buzzing is not.
When to call a professional
Repeated overheating is a serious fire risk. If replacing the sensor and verifying the cooling fan doesn't fix the problem, stop using the oven and call a technician to inspect the control board relays.
