GE Dishwasher Error Code C7 — Turbidity Sensor Error

Advanced Fix 30–60 minutes Tools: Screwdriver

What this means

The C7 error means the turbidity sensor (which measures how dirty the water is) has failed. This sensor helps the dishwasher determine when dishes are clean. Without it, the dishwasher may run cycles that are too short or too long.

Step-by-step fix

2 steps
1

Power cycle the dishwasher

Turn off the breaker for 5 minutes and turn it back on. Run a normal cycle.

Sensor glitches can sometimes be cleared with a full power reset.

2

Clean the sensor area

The turbidity sensor is in the sump area at the bottom of the dishwasher. Remove the filter assembly and clean around the sensor. Grease and food film can coat the sensor lens.

Use a soft cloth with a bit of vinegar to clean the sensor lens gently.

When to call a professional

If cleaning doesn't resolve it, the sensor itself needs replacement. This is inside the sump assembly.
