Samsung Washer Error Code OE — Water Overflow
What this means
The OE error code means your Samsung washer has detected that the water level in the drum has exceeded the safe limit. This is a safety feature to prevent flooding. It's usually caused by a faulty water inlet valve that doesn't fully close, or a malfunctioning water level pressure sensor.
Alternate codes: OC, 0E, 0C
Step-by-step fix
3 stepsCancel the cycle and drain
Press the Power button to cancel the current cycle. The washer should attempt to drain. If it doesn't, use the emergency drain hose (small hose near the debris filter) to manually drain the water into a bucket.
Place towels around the base of the washer in case of spillage.
Check the water inlet valve
After the drum is empty, start a cycle and watch: if the water continues filling even after it should have stopped, the water inlet valve is stuck open. Turn off the water supply immediately.
A stuck-open inlet valve is the most common cause of OE errors — the valve's internal diaphragm wears out.
Inspect the pressure sensor hose
The water level sensor uses a small rubber tube (air hose) connected to the bottom of the tub. If this tube is clogged, kinked, or disconnected, the washer can't accurately measure water level. Check that it's clear and properly connected.
Blow gently through the hose to check for blockages — you should feel no resistance.
When to call a professional
If the water inlet valve is stuck open, it needs replacement. While the part itself is inexpensive, the repair involves disconnecting water lines and electrical connectors inside the machine.
