Samsung Washer Error Code E2 — Stuck Key on Control Panel
What this means
The E2 error code on older Samsung washer models indicates that a key (button) on the control panel is stuck, shorted, or being pressed continuously. This is functionally the same as the bE error on newer models. The washer cannot accept commands until the stuck button is released.
Step-by-step fix
3 stepsClean the control panel
Wipe the entire control panel with a slightly damp (not wet) cloth. Clean around and between all buttons to remove any dried detergent, sticky residue, or grime that could be holding a button down.
Avoid getting water behind the buttons — wring out the cloth thoroughly before wiping.
Press each button individually
Systematically press and release each button on the panel. Feel for any that are sticky, don't spring back, or feel different from the others.
Pay special attention to the most-used buttons: Power, Start/Pause, and Cycle selector.
Power cycle the washer
Unplug from the wall for 2 minutes, then plug back in. This resets the control board and can clear false stuck-key detections.
If the error keeps returning, the control panel overlay (membrane) is likely failing and needs replacement.
When to call a professional
If no button is physically stuck but the error persists, the control panel overlay or the main control board may need replacement.
