Samsung Dishwasher Error Code OE — Overflow Error

Advanced Fix 20–45 minutes Tools: Towels

What this means

The OE error means the dishwasher's water level has exceeded the safe limit. This is usually caused by a stuck-open water inlet valve or a malfunctioning water level sensor. The dishwasher will attempt to drain and stop the cycle.

Alternate codes: OC, 0E

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Turn off the water supply

Immediately turn off the water supply valve under the sink to stop additional water from entering the dishwasher.

If water is actively overflowing, place towels around the base and turn off the water supply urgently.

2

Run a drain cycle

Try running a drain-only cycle or cancel/drain to remove the excess water. If the dishwasher won't drain, you may need to bail out water manually.

Use a cup and towels to remove standing water if the drain pump isn't working.

3

Check the inlet valve

The inlet valve may be stuck open, continuously filling. After draining, turn the water supply back on briefly — if water enters the dishwasher when it's off, the inlet valve needs replacement.

A stuck-open inlet valve is the most common cause of overflow errors.

When to call a professional

A stuck-open water inlet valve needs replacement. While the part is inexpensive, accessing it requires pulling out the dishwasher.
