Samsung Dishwasher Error Code 4E — Water Supply Error

Easy Fix 10–25 minutes Tools: Pliers

What this means

The 4E error means the dishwasher is unable to fill with water within the expected time. This is usually caused by a closed water supply valve, kinked supply hose, or clogged inlet filter.

Alternate codes: 4C

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Check the water supply valve

Locate the water supply valve under the kitchen sink (usually on the hot water line). Make sure it's fully open — turn counterclockwise.

Some dishwashers connect to hot water, others to cold. Check your installation manual.

2

Inspect the supply hose

Check the hose running from the supply valve to the dishwasher for kinks, bends, or damage. Straighten any kinks.

The supply hose is usually accessible under the sink or behind the dishwasher's kick plate.

3

Clean the inlet filter

Where the supply hose connects to the dishwasher's inlet valve, there's a small mesh filter screen. Turn off the water supply, disconnect the hose, and rinse the screen clean.

Sediment and mineral deposits from hard water are the most common cause of clogged inlet filters.

When to call a professional

If water supply, hose, and filter are all fine but the dishwasher still won't fill, the water inlet valve solenoid may be faulty.
