Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E24 — Drain Error

Moderate Fix 15–30 minutes Tools: Towels

What this means

The E24 error is the most common Bosch dishwasher error code. It means water isn't draining from the dishwasher. This is almost always caused by a clogged drain filter, kinked drain hose, or a garbage disposal connection issue.

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Clean the drain filter

Remove the bottom rack, twist out the cylindrical filter assembly, and clean it thoroughly under running water with a soft brush. Also clean the flat mesh filter underneath.

Bosch recommends cleaning the filter after every wash. Food particles, grease, and glass chips are common blockages.

2

Check the drain hose

The drain hose runs from the dishwasher to the sink drain or garbage disposal. Check for kinks. Make sure the hose has a high loop (it should rise to the underside of the countertop before going down to the drain).

The high loop prevents dirty water from siphoning back into the dishwasher.

3

Clear the garbage disposal connection

If connected to a disposal, run the disposal to clear it. Also check that the knockout plug was removed when the disposal was installed.

The knockout plug is the #1 missed step during garbage disposal installation.

When to call a professional

If filter, hose, and disposal are clear but the dishwasher still won't drain, the drain pump may be faulty.
