F8 E1

Whirlpool Washer Error Code F8 E1 — Water Supply Error

Easy Fix 15–30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Bucket

What this means

The F8 E1 (or LO FL) error means the washer is not receiving enough water. This is the most common Whirlpool washer error and is usually caused by closed valves, kinked hoses, or clogged inlet screens.

Alternate codes: LO FL

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Check the water supply valves

Make sure both hot and cold water valves behind the washer are fully open.

Both valves must be open even if you only use cold water cycles.

2

Inspect and straighten hoses

Check both inlet hoses for kinks. Straighten any bends and ensure hoses aren't pinched behind the washer.

Leave 4 inches between the washer and wall to prevent hose kinking.

3

Clean inlet screens

Turn off water, disconnect hoses from the washer, and clean the small mesh filter screens inside the valve inlets.

These screens catch sediment — clean them every 6 months.

When to call a professional

If water supply is fine but the washer still won't fill, the inlet valve may be electrically faulty.
