Step-by-step fix
3 stepsClean the lint filter
Remove and clean the lint screen. Wash with soap and water if fabric softener has coated the mesh.
Hold the screen up to a light — if you can't see through it, it needs washing.
Clean the exhaust vent
Disconnect the duct from the back of the dryer and use a vent brush or vacuum to clean the entire length to the exterior vent.
