Samsung Dryer Error Code Clg — Clogged Vent Warning
What this means
The Clg (Clogged) error is a vent blockage warning. Unlike the Et overheating error, Clg is an early warning that airflow is restricted before temperatures reach dangerous levels. The dryer may still run but will take much longer to dry clothes and use more energy.
Alternate codes: FC
Step-by-step fix
3 stepsClean the lint filter
Remove and clean the lint screen thoroughly. Wash it with soap and water if fabric softener residue has built up (water should flow through the mesh freely).
Hold the screen up to a light — if you can't see through the mesh, it needs washing.
Clean the exhaust duct
Disconnect the duct from the back of the dryer. Use a vent brush or vacuum to remove lint from the duct. Check the entire run from the dryer to the exterior vent.
Flexible foil ducts kink easily and trap lint. Consider upgrading to rigid metal duct.
Check the exterior vent hood
Go outside and inspect the vent hood. Remove any debris, lint, or obstructions. Make sure the flapper opens freely.
A vent hood with a screen will clog faster than one with a simple flap — consider removing the screen if your model has one.
When to call a professional
If the vent run is very long, goes through walls, or is difficult to access, a professional dryer vent cleaning service costs $100–$200 and is worth it for safety.
