Samsung Dishwasher Error Code 9E — Water Level Error

Moderate Fix 15–30 minutes Tools: Pliers

What this means

The 9E error indicates the dishwasher is not filling to the required water level. Unlike the 4E code (no water at all), 9E typically means some water enters but not enough for proper operation. This can be caused by low water pressure, a partially clogged inlet, or a faulty water level sensor.

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Check water pressure

Turn on the kitchen faucet. If the flow is weak, you may have low household water pressure. Try running the dishwasher when no other water-using appliances are running.

Dishwashers need at least 20 PSI water pressure to fill properly.

2

Clean the inlet filter

Turn off the supply valve, disconnect the supply hose from the dishwasher, and clean the small mesh filter in the inlet valve. Sediment restricts flow.

Hard water areas need filter cleaning more frequently — every 6 months.

3

Open the supply valve fully

Make sure the valve under the sink is completely open — sometimes it gets bumped partially closed.

Turn the valve counterclockwise until it stops to ensure full flow.

When to call a professional

If water supply is adequate and the filter is clean, the water level sensor or inlet valve may need replacement.
