Miele Washing Machine Error Code F19 — Flow Meter Fault
What this means
Error F19 on Miele washing machines indicates the flow meter (water intake turbine sensor) has malfunctioned. Similar to the dishwasher variant, the flow meter counts the volume of water entering the machine. If it gives no signal, erratic signals, or contradictory signals compared to the pressure switch, F19 is triggered. Limescale buildup on the turbine is the most common cause.
Alternate codes: F 19
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsConfirm water supply is normal
Open the hot and cold taps fully and verify strong flow. Low pressure can cause the flow meter turbine to spin too slowly to generate signals.
Minimum water pressure for Miele washers is typically 1 bar (14.5 psi).
Clean the flow meter
Turn off water. Access the inlet valve assembly at the top rear of the machine. The flow meter is typically attached to or integrated into the valve body. If removable, soak it in white vinegar for 30 minutes to dissolve limescale.
Use a cotton swab to gently clean the turbine blades without bending them.
Check the flow meter wiring
Inspect the thin signal wires from the flow meter to the control board connector. Ensure the connector is secure and pins are not corroded.
The flow meter connector typically has 2–3 pins. Even one corroded pin can cause F19.
Replace the inlet valve assembly
If cleaning does not restore the flow meter function, replace the entire inlet valve/flow meter assembly.
When installing the new valve, apply thread tape to the water connections to prevent leaks.
When to call a professional
If the flow meter replacement does not clear F19, the control board's input circuit may be at fault.
