F10

Miele Washing Machine Error Code F10 — Water Intake Fault

Moderate Repair 15–40 minutes Tools: Adjustable pliers, Small brush, Towels, Bucket

What this means

Error F10 on Miele washing machines indicates a water supply problem. The machine has not filled to the required level within the timeout period. Common causes include the water tap being closed, a kinked inlet hose, a blocked inlet filter screen, low household water pressure, or a failed water inlet valve solenoid. Miele machines with dual-valve systems may show F10 if only one valve is working.

Alternate codes: F 10

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check the water supply tap

Ensure the water supply valve is fully open. Turn it off and on again to confirm it moves freely and is not seized.

Miele washing machines often have both hot and cold water connections. If you use both, check both taps.

2

Clean the inlet filter screens

Turn off the water and disconnect the inlet hose(s) from the machine. Remove the small mesh filter screens from the inlet connections on the machine and from the hose ends. Rinse under water to clear mineral deposits.

Miele inlet hoses often have a filter at the tap end and another at the machine end — clean both.

3

Check the inlet hose for restrictions

Inspect the hose for kinks or flattening. On Miele machines with the Waterproof hose, check if the outer hose has expanded (indicating an internal leak). If so, the entire hose assembly must be replaced.

If the Waterproof hose has triggered, the machine will not fill even with a good valve.

4

Test the water inlet valve

Unplug the machine and access the inlet valve (usually at the top rear). Disconnect the valve connector and measure solenoid resistance with a multimeter — expected range is 500–1,500 ohms. Also ensure 230V/120V reaches the valve connector when a fill is commanded.

Miele washers may have 2 or 3 solenoids in one valve body for different water temperatures. Test each one.

When to call a professional

If the valve and supply test fine but F10 persists, the pressure switch or its hose may be faulty, requiring more in-depth diagnosis.
