Electrolux Oven Error Code F14 — Broil Sensor Open or Shorted
What this means
The F14 error code on Electrolux double ovens indicates the broil oven (upper oven) temperature sensor has an open or short circuit. This code appears on models with two separate ovens, each with its own temperature sensor. The upper oven will not heat in bake or broil mode. The sensor may have failed, the wiring may be damaged, or the connector may be loose.
Alternate codes: F 14
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsLocate the broil oven sensor
The broil (upper) oven sensor is located on the back wall of the upper oven cavity. It looks identical to the lower oven sensor — a metal probe connected by two wires.
On single-oven models, F14 does not typically appear. This code is specific to double oven configurations.
Test the sensor resistance
Disconnect the sensor wires at the control board and test resistance. At room temperature, it should read approximately 1,080–1,100 ohms. An OL reading means open; near 0 means shorted.
Compare the reading to the lower oven sensor — they should be nearly identical at room temperature.
Check the wiring
If the reading at the board is abnormal, test the sensor directly at the probe. If the probe reads normally, the wiring between the sensor and board has a break or short.
The upper oven sensor wire often runs a longer path and is more prone to damage than the lower oven sensor wire.
Replace the sensor or repair wiring
Replace the faulty sensor or repair the damaged wiring. The sensor mounts with one or two screws on the back wall of the upper oven. Reconnect and test the upper oven.
Run the upper oven at 350°F for 10 minutes after replacement to verify proper operation.
When to call a professional
This is a straightforward DIY repair. Only call a pro if the sensor and wiring test fine but the code persists.
