E14

Electrolux Dryer Error Code E14 — No or Low Voltage to Heating Circuit

Moderate 10–30 minutes Tools: Multimeter, Flashlight

What this means

The E14 error code on Electrolux dryers indicates the control board is receiving low or no voltage on the heating circuit. Electric dryers require a 240V power supply delivered via two 120V legs. If one leg of power is lost (a tripped breaker, a loose outlet connection, or a damaged power cord), the dryer may run the motor but cannot power the heating element at full capacity. This code signals a power supply problem rather than a component failure inside the dryer.

Alternate codes: E 14

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check the circuit breaker

Go to your home's electrical panel and find the double-pole breaker for the dryer (usually 30 amps). If one side has tripped, the dryer motor may still run but heating won't work. Flip the breaker fully OFF, then back ON.

A double-pole breaker can trip on one leg while the other stays on — the handle may look like it's in the ON position. Flip it fully off first.

2

Test the outlet voltage

Using a multimeter set to AC voltage, test the dryer outlet. You should read 240V between the two angled prongs, and 120V from each prong to the neutral (or ground). If you only read 120V total, one leg of power is missing.

If you're not comfortable working with high-voltage outlets, skip this step and call an electrician.

3

Inspect the power cord

Unplug the dryer and inspect the power cord for any damage, burn marks, or bent prongs. Also check inside the terminal block where the cord connects to the dryer for loose or corroded connections.

A loose terminal block connection can cause intermittent power loss and arcing, which is a fire hazard.

4

Run a test cycle

After verifying proper voltage, plug the dryer back in and run a timed dry cycle. Monitor that the dryer is producing heat and the E14 code does not return.

If the breaker trips again immediately, there may be a short in the dryer's wiring or heating element — do not keep resetting it.

When to call a professional

If the outlet voltage is correct but the E14 code persists, the dryer's internal wiring or control board may have an issue. Call a technician. If the circuit breaker keeps tripping, call an electrician.
