Electrolux Dishwasher Error Code Er 03 — Heating Circuit Fault
What this means
The Er 03 error code on Electrolux dishwashers indicates the control board has detected an abnormality in the heating circuit — either the heating element, the thermistor, or the wiring connecting them. The dishwasher recognizes that it cannot safely control water temperature and will stop the cycle. This can be caused by a failed heater element, a faulty temperature sensor, or a wiring break.
Alternate codes: ER03, ER-03, Er03
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsReset the dishwasher
Turn off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes, then turn it back on. Try starting a wash cycle. If the error returns within a few minutes, proceed to the next step.
A momentary sensor glitch can trigger this code. A reset clears it if there's no real fault.
Test the heating element
Disconnect power and access the heating element terminals under the tub. Test for continuity (should read 10–30 ohms) and for ground faults (terminal to chassis should read OL).
A grounded heating element is dangerous and must be replaced immediately.
Test the thermistor
Locate and test the temperature sensor. At room temperature it should read 10,000–15,000 ohms. An open or shorted thermistor will trigger this code.
The thermistor is often clipped into the sump area near the heating element.
Inspect the wiring
Trace all wiring between the heating element, thermistor, and control board. Look for burnt, broken, or corroded connections. Repair or replace any damaged wiring.
Water drips from above can corrode connections over time — check for any signs of water tracking down wires.
When to call a professional
If all components and wiring test fine, the control board's heating management circuit is faulty and needs professional diagnosis.
