Electrolux Dishwasher Error Code i60 — Water Not Heating

Moderate 25–50 minutes Tools: Phillips screwdriver, Torx screwdriver, Multimeter

What this means

The i60 error code on Electrolux dishwashers indicates the wash water did not heat to the expected temperature within the allotted time. Electrolux dishwashers use a built-in heater to boost water temperature for better cleaning and sanitizing. This code can be caused by a failed heating element, a faulty thermistor, a tripped thermal fuse, or a control board issue.

Alternate codes: I60, i 60

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check incoming water temperature

Run the hot water at the kitchen sink for 1–2 minutes before starting the dishwasher. This ensures the dishwasher fills with hot water from the start, reducing the heating burden.

The incoming hot water should be at least 120°F (49°C). If your water heater is set lower, the dishwasher has to work harder.

2

Test the heating element

Turn off the dishwasher's circuit breaker. Access the heating element connections underneath the tub. Test the element for continuity — it should read 10–30 ohms. Also test for ground faults (element to chassis should be OL).

The heating element is typically a ring-shaped component at the bottom of the tub, visible from inside the dishwasher.

3

Test the thermistor

Locate the water temperature thermistor (usually near the sump or heating element). Disconnect it and test resistance — it should read approximately 10,000–15,000 ohms at room temperature, decreasing as temperature rises.

If the thermistor reads a very high or infinite resistance, it's telling the board the water is always hot enough — so the heater never turns on.

4

Inspect the wiring and board

If the element and thermistor test fine, trace the wiring from the heater to the control board looking for breaks or burns. Check the control board for damaged components around the heater relay.

Water leaks inside the dishwasher can cause corrosion on wire terminals, creating high resistance in the circuit.

When to call a professional

If the element, thermistor, and wiring are fine, the control board likely has a faulty heater relay. Call a technician for board diagnosis.
