Whirlpool Oven Error Code F7 E0 — Drive Motor Speed Signal Error

Moderate-Advanced Repair 30–60 minutes Tools: Phillips screwdriver, Multimeter, Torx T20 screwdriver, 1/4-inch nut driver

What this means

The F7 E0 error code on Whirlpool ovens indicates the control board is not receiving the expected speed signal from the convection fan motor. The motor may have failed, the fan blade may be obstructed, or the speed-sensing circuit on the motor has failed. This code appears on Whirlpool convection ovens, double ovens, and induction ranges with convection cooking.

Alternate codes: F7E0

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Check for fan obstructions

Turn off power to the oven. Open the oven door and look at the convection fan behind the rear panel. On some models, you can see through the fan cover. Spin the fan by hand to check for obstructions or binding.

Fallen foil, broken oven parts, or food debris can jam the fan from behind.

2

Access and test the convection fan motor

Remove the rear external panel of the oven (screws around the perimeter). Locate the convection fan motor. Disconnect the motor wires and test the motor windings for continuity — they should show 20–80 ohms depending on the model.

If the motor hums but does not spin, the bearings are likely seized. If there is no sound at all, the windings are open.

3

Replace the convection fan motor

Remove the fan blade nut (may be reverse-threaded). Pull the fan blade off the motor shaft. Remove the motor mounting screws. Install the new motor, reattach the blade, and reconnect the wiring.

Check that the fan blade is not cracked — a cracked blade can vibrate and damage the new motor.

When to call a professional

If the motor tests correctly but the code persists, the control board's motor driver circuit may be faulty. Contact a certified technician.
