Samsung Washer Error Code 4E2 — Water Temperature Too Hot
What this means
The 4E2 error code appears when the washer detects water above 50°C (122°F) during a delicate or cold cycle. This is a safety feature to protect delicate fabrics. The most common cause is reversed hot and cold water supply hoses. It can also indicate a faulty water inlet valve allowing hot water to mix in during cold fills.
Alternate codes: 4C2, CE, 14C2
Step-by-step fix
3 stepsVerify hose connections
Turn off the water supply valves. Confirm that the hot water supply hose is connected to the hot inlet valve (marked H) and the cold hose to the cold inlet (marked C) on the back of the washer.
This is the most common cause of 4E2 — simply having the hoses swapped.
Swap hoses if reversed
Disconnect the hoses and reconnect them to the correct inlets. Turn the water back on and check for leaks at the connections.
Have a towel handy — residual water will drip when disconnecting.
Check your water heater setting
If hoses are correctly connected, check that your household water heater is set to the recommended 120°F (49°C) or lower.
An excessively high water heater temperature can cause this error even with correct hose connections.
When to call a professional
If hoses are correct and water heater temperature is normal, the hot water inlet valve solenoid may be stuck open and needs professional replacement.
