Samsung Washer Error Code 3E2 — Motor Voltage Error
What this means
The 3E2 error code is set when the control board detects the motor will not turn, there is no feedback signal from the motor, or an over-current condition has been detected. This is typically caused by a jammed motor, jammed inner tub, a defective motor, or a defective main PCB (control board).
Alternate codes: 3C2
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsPower cycle the washer
Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, then plug it back in. A voltage fluctuation from a storm or power outage can sometimes trigger this code.
If the code clears after reset but returns during a cycle, continue troubleshooting.
Check the drum for obstructions
With the washer empty and unplugged, try spinning the drum by hand. If it won't move or grinds, there may be a mechanical jam.
Remove any foreign objects wedged between the inner and outer drum.
Inspect motor wiring connections
Access the motor at the bottom or back of the washer (varies by model). Check that all wire connectors to the motor and hall sensor are firmly seated and free of corrosion.
Wiggle each connector gently to check for loose pins.
Test the motor and hall sensor
Using a multimeter, test the motor windings for proper resistance and check the hall sensor for continuity. Refer to your model's tech sheet for specific resistance values.
A hall sensor failure is more common than a full motor failure.
When to call a professional
If the motor and hall sensor test good, the main control board (PCB) may need replacement. This requires professional diagnosis.
