Samsung Refrigerator Error Code 67E — Door Open / Door Switch Error

Easy Fix 15–30 minutes Tools: Phillips screwdriver, Multimeter

What this means

The 67E error code indicates a problem with one of the door switches. Either a magnetic reed switch has failed, a door is not closing properly due to a misaligned hinge or worn gasket, or the switch wiring is damaged. The control board responds by keeping fans off and sounding an alarm, since running with the door open wastes energy and raises interior temperature.

Alternate codes: 67C

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check all doors

Open and firmly close all doors — the fridge doors, freezer door, and FlexZone drawer if equipped. Make sure nothing inside is blocking the door from closing flush.

A container or food item pushed too far back can prevent the door from sealing completely.

2

Inspect the door gaskets

Run your hand along each door gasket and feel for gaps, tears, or areas that are not making contact with the cabinet. A worn gasket allows warm air in and may trigger the door alarm.

The dollar bill test: close a dollar bill in the door seal. If it slides out easily, the gasket needs replacement.

3

Check door alignment and hinges

Look at the gap between the door and the cabinet from the front. If the gap is uneven, the hinge may be loose or bent. Tighten hinge bolts and adjust if needed.

Samsung French Door models have adjustable bottom hinges — turning the adjustment bolt raises or lowers the door to fix misalignment.

4

Test the door switch

Unplug the refrigerator. Locate the door switch (usually a magnetic reed switch in the top frame of the cabinet). Disconnect and test for continuity — the switch should show continuity when the magnet is near and open when the magnet is removed.

Check that the magnet embedded in the door is still in place and not cracked.

When to call a professional

If all switches and gaskets are good but the error persists, the control board may have a faulty input circuit. Call a technician for board-level diagnosis.
