Samsung Refrigerator Error Code 33E — Ice Pipe Heater Issue
What this means
Error code 33E indicates that the heating element inside the water supply tube to the ice maker has failed. This heater prevents the fill tube from freezing, and when it burns out, water can no longer reach the ice maker. It is a relatively common issue on Samsung French door refrigerators after several years of use.
Alternate codes: 33C
Step-by-step fix
5 stepsUnplug the refrigerator
Disconnect the refrigerator from the power outlet or turn off the circuit breaker. Wait at least 60 seconds before proceeding.
Pull the fridge away from the wall enough to access the power cord safely.
Test the ice pipe heater with a multimeter
Locate the fill tube heater near the ice maker. Disconnect the heater's wire harness and set your multimeter to the ohms setting. Place the probes on the heater terminals.
A good heater reads between 200 and 800 ohms. An open-line reading (OL or infinity) confirms a burned-out heater.
Remove the failed heater assembly
If the heater tests open, remove the mounting screws or clips holding the heater assembly to the fill tube. Carefully disconnect any remaining wiring.
Take a photo of the wiring connections before removal so you can replicate them during installation.
Install the new fill tube heater
Position the replacement heater (DA47-00192E) in the same location as the original. Secure with mounting hardware and reconnect the wire harness to the main board connector.
Make sure the heater wraps snugly around the fill tube for proper heat transfer.
Restore power and test
Plug the refrigerator back in and wait 24 hours for ice production to resume. Verify the 33E code has cleared from the display.
If the code returns, inspect the wiring between the heater and the main PCB for damage.
When to call a professional
If the heater tests good but the 33E code persists, the main control board may have a failed relay. A technician can diagnose and replace the PCB.
