C-22

Samsung Oven Error Code C-22 — Temperature Sensor Open Circuit

Moderate Fix 20–40 minutes Tools: Multimeter, Phillips screwdriver

What this means

The C-22 error code indicates the oven temperature sensor circuit is open, meaning the control board detects no signal from the sensor. This is the opposite of C-20 (short) — instead of reading too low, the resistance is infinitely high (open line). This is caused by a burned-out sensor, a disconnected wire, or a broken wire in the harness.

Alternate codes: C22

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check the sensor wire connection

Unplug the oven and check the wire connector at the temperature sensor. It may have come loose or disconnected. Reseat the connector firmly.

A loose connector is the easiest fix for this error.

2

Test the temperature sensor

Disconnect the sensor wires and test with a multimeter set to resistance. At room temperature, it should read approximately 1,100 ohms. An OL (open line) reading means the sensor is burned out.

Check at the control board end of the harness too — if the sensor reads good but the board end reads OL, there's a wire break.

3

Inspect the wiring harness

Trace the wire harness from the sensor to the control board. Look for any breaks, cuts, or heat-damaged sections.

Wires passing near the oven cavity are particularly susceptible to heat damage.

4

Replace the temperature sensor

If the sensor is open, replace it. Remove the mounting screw, pull the old sensor out, install the new one, and reconnect the wire harness.

This is the same replacement procedure as for the C-20 error.

When to call a professional

If both the sensor and wiring test good, the control board's sensor input circuit may be damaged. A technician should diagnose the board.
