Samsung Dryer Error Code NF — No Wi-Fi / Network Failure
What this means
The NF error code appears on Samsung smart dryers with Wi-Fi connectivity. It indicates the dryer cannot establish or maintain a connection to your home Wi-Fi network. This does not affect the dryer's ability to dry clothes — it only impacts smart features like SmartThings monitoring, remote start, and cycle notifications on your phone.
Alternate codes: nF
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsPower cycle the dryer and router
Unplug the dryer for 2 minutes. Also unplug your Wi-Fi router for 2 minutes. Plug the router back in first, wait for it to fully connect, then plug the dryer back in.
Smart appliances sometimes lose their Wi-Fi credentials after a firmware update or power surge.
Re-pair the dryer to Wi-Fi
On the dryer, press and hold the Smart Control or AP button for 3 seconds to enter Wi-Fi setup mode. Open the SmartThings app on your phone and follow the prompts to reconnect the dryer to your network.
Make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the dryer to join.
Check router settings
Verify your router is broadcasting on 2.4 GHz — most Samsung smart dryers do not support 5 GHz. Also ensure MAC address filtering is not blocking the dryer.
If your router has a combined 2.4/5 GHz network name, the dryer may struggle to connect. Create a separate 2.4 GHz network if possible.
Move the router closer or add a range extender
If the dryer is far from the router, the signal may be too weak. Move the router closer, eliminate obstacles (metal shelving, concrete walls), or add a Wi-Fi range extender near the laundry room.
Check signal strength in the SmartThings app — fewer than 2 bars usually means connectivity will be unreliable.
When to call a professional
If the Wi-Fi module inside the dryer has failed (the dryer never enters pairing mode), Samsung service can replace the Wi-Fi communication board.
