Samsung Dryer Error Code dF — Door Switch Error
What this means
The dF error code indicates the dryer's control board is not receiving a signal that the door is securely closed. This can be caused by the door not fully latching, a worn door catch, a faulty door switch, or a wiring issue between the switch and the control board.
Alternate codes: dE, dC
Step-by-step fix
3 stepsCheck the door latch and strike
Open and close the dryer door firmly. Listen for a distinct click when it closes. Inspect the door catch/latch on the door and the strike on the dryer body for damage, warping, or lint buildup. Clean any debris from the latch area.
Over time, the plastic door catch can crack or wear down. If it doesn't click firmly, replace it.
Test the door switch
Unplug the dryer. Remove the top panel to access the door switch (usually on the front panel near the door opening). Disconnect the wires and use a multimeter set to continuity. Press the switch button — it should show continuity when pressed and OL when released.
The door switch is a common wear item. Samsung door switches are inexpensive and easy to replace.
Inspect the wiring
Check the wires running from the door switch to the control board for any loose connections, burns, or damage. Reseat any loose connectors firmly.
Vibration during operation can loosen wire connections over time.
When to call a professional
If the door switch and latch are working correctly and the wiring is intact, but the error persists, the main control board may need replacement. A technician can diagnose control board issues.
