Samsung Dishwasher Error Code AP — Access Point Mode

Easy Fix 1–5 minutes Tools: None

What this means

The AP display is not an error code but an indicator that the dishwasher has entered Access Point mode. In this mode, the dishwasher creates its own WiFi network so it can be connected to your home network via the Samsung SmartThings app. This mode is activated during initial WiFi setup or when the connection needs to be re-established.

Step-by-step fix

2 steps
1

Complete WiFi setup (if intended)

If you are trying to connect the dishwasher to WiFi, open the Samsung SmartThings app on your phone and follow the setup instructions to connect the dishwasher to your home network.

Make sure your phone is connected to your 2.4GHz WiFi network, not 5GHz, during setup.

2

Exit AP mode (if unintended)

If you did not intend to enter AP mode, simply turn the dishwasher off and back on. The AP indicator should disappear and the dishwasher will return to normal operation.

AP mode typically times out on its own after a few minutes if setup is not completed.

When to call a professional

If the dishwasher is stuck in AP mode and will not exit, a reset at the circuit breaker for 5 minutes should resolve it. If the WiFi module is malfunctioning, a technician may need to replace it.
