Miele Refrigerator Error Code F2 — Freezer Compartment Sensor Fault
What this means
Error F2 on Miele refrigerators indicates the NTC sensor in the freezer compartment is faulty. Without valid freezer temperature data, the compressor may run continuously (overcooling) or not enough (thawing food). This is the freezer equivalent of the F1 fridge compartment sensor fault.
Alternate codes: F 2, F02
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsCheck freezer temperature behavior
Is the freezer extremely cold (below -25°C) or too warm (above -10°C)? Continuous compressor running suggests the board cannot see the correct temperature and keeps cooling. No cooling suggests the board reads the sensor as 'cold enough' and stops.
Check food items — if ice cream is very hard or items are thawing, the temperature regulation is affected.
Locate the freezer sensor
Unplug the refrigerator. The freezer sensor is usually on the back wall of the freezer compartment, behind a cover panel near the evaporator.
You may need to remove the freezer drawers and baskets to access the back panel.
Test the sensor
Disconnect and measure resistance. At freezer temperature (-18°C/0°F), a typical 5 kΩ NTC reads approximately 25–40 kΩ. At room temperature (~20°C), approximately 5 kΩ.
To test at a known temperature, remove the sensor and let it warm to room temperature — measure should match the rated value.
Replace the sensor
If faulty, replace with the correct Miele part. Reconnect, reassemble the cover panel, and plug in the refrigerator.
Allow at least 12–24 hours after the repair for freezer temperatures to stabilize.
When to call a professional
If the sensor replacement does not resolve the issue, the control board may need service.
