Miele Oven Error Code F14 — Temperature Sensor Fault

Error F14 on Miele ovens indicates the temperature sensor inside the oven cavity is not providing valid data. The sensor may have failed open-circuit, short-circuit, or may be reading a temperature that does not match the heating behavior. Without accurate temperature sensing, the oven cannot safely control the heating elements. The oven will shut down and display F14.

Turn off the oven at the circuit breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power. A temporary sensor glitch may clear.
If F14 appeared during self-clean (pyrolytic cleaning), the extreme heat may have damaged the sensor.
Locate the temperature sensor
The oven temperature sensor is a thin probe that extends into the oven cavity, typically at the top rear. It is mounted with 1–2 screws and has a wire connector accessible from behind the oven.
Do not confuse the temperature sensor (a thin rod) with the meat probe socket (a female jack).
Test the sensor
Unplug the oven (turn off the breaker). Access the sensor connector from the back of the oven. Disconnect and measure resistance — at room temperature, it typically reads 1,000–1,200 ohms (for a PT1000 type) or 10,000–15,000 ohms (for an NTC type).
Miele ovens commonly use PT1000 RTD sensors. If yours reads ~1,100 ohms at room temperature, it is likely a PT1000.
Replace the sensor
If the sensor reads abnormally, replace it. Remove the mounting screws from inside the oven, pull the probe out, disconnect the old sensor wiring, connect the new sensor, insert the probe, and secure with screws.
Route the new sensor wire away from direct contact with the oven cavity back wall to prevent heat damage.
When to call a professional
If the sensor is fine but F14 persists, the oven control board's temperature measurement circuit has failed. Oven electronics are not user-replaceable on Miele built-in ovens.
