Miele Dishwasher Error Code F19 — Flow Meter Signal Error
What this means
Error F19 is the complement of F18 — instead of no signal, the flow meter is sending signals when the inlet valve is supposed to be closed. This indicates either the inlet valve is leaking through (not fully closing), the flow meter turbine is vibrating or oscillating due to a loose magnet, or electrical interference is affecting the Hall-effect sensor. The machine may overfill if this condition persists.
Alternate codes: F 19
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsCheck for overfilling
Open the dishwasher and observe the water level in the tub. If the water level is above the bottom of the door seal, the inlet valve may be leaking through. Turn off the water tap immediately to prevent flooding.
If there is standing water, run a drain cycle or manually scoop out excess water before further troubleshooting.
Test the inlet valve for leak-through
With the dishwasher off and the water tap open, observe whether water continues to trickle into the tub. If it does, the inlet valve solenoid is not sealing properly and must be replaced.
Even a slow drip (one drop per second) over hours can cause a significant overfill condition.
Inspect the flow meter for mechanical issues
Access the flow meter turbine. Check if the magnet on the turbine has come loose or if the turbine is chattering in its housing. A loose magnet can generate false pulses.
Gently tap the flow meter body — if you hear a rattle, the internal magnet has likely detached.
Check for electrical interference
Verify that the flow meter wiring is properly shielded and routed away from the drain pump motor wires. Electromagnetic interference from the pump can sometimes induce false signals in the flow meter circuit.
Re-routing the flow meter wires away from high-current wires and securing them with cable ties may resolve intermittent F19 codes.
When to call a professional
If the inlet valve is leaking through (water enters with the dishwasher off), it must be replaced promptly to prevent flooding. Call a technician if you are not comfortable replacing the valve.
