F13

Miele Dishwasher Error Code F13 — Water Inlet Fault (Mid-Cycle)

Moderate Repair 15–40 minutes Tools: Adjustable pliers, Small brush, Towels, Multimeter

What this means

Error F13 is similar to F12 but occurs during the cycle rather than at startup. The dishwasher has detected that water intake has dropped below the required level while the program is running. This can be caused by a fluctuating household water supply, a partially clogged inlet valve that works initially but fails under sustained demand, or an intermittent issue with the water pressure sensor. On some Miele models, a faulty flow meter inside the inlet valve can also generate this code.

Alternate codes: F 13

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check for intermittent water supply issues

Run the kitchen faucet while the dishwasher is filling to see if water pressure drops significantly. If it does, the household supply may be insufficient to serve both simultaneously. Also check if a washing machine or irrigation system is running at the same time.

Try running the dishwasher during off-peak hours (late evening) when household water demand is lower.

2

Clean the inlet filter and check the hose

Follow the same steps as for F12 — turn off water, disconnect the inlet hose, clean the mesh filter screen, and inspect the hose for partial kinks.

A partially clogged screen may allow enough water for initial fill but starve the machine during a mid-cycle refill.

3

Inspect the flow meter in the inlet valve

On Miele dishwashers with electronic flow metering, the inlet valve assembly contains a small turbine flow meter. If this meter is sluggish or stuck, the control board may read zero flow even though water is entering. Access the valve and check that the turbine spins freely.

Limescale deposits on the flow meter turbine are a common issue in hard-water regions.

4

Test the pressure switch

The water level is monitored by a pressure switch connected to the sump via a small hose. Check that this hose is not kinked, cracked, or disconnected. Blow gently into the hose to confirm it is clear.

A small amount of water or residue in the pressure switch hose can give false readings.

When to call a professional

If the flow meter or pressure switch needs replacement, or if water pressure issues cannot be resolved with basic checks, a Miele-certified technician should diagnose the system.
