Remove the water tank, fill it with fresh water, and reinsert it firmly. Ensure the tank sits properly on its contacts/valve.
If the tank was completely empty and the machine ran dry, the pump may be air-locked.
Prime the pump
Run the hot water dispense function (without coffee) to push water through the system and purge any air. Run it for 30–60 seconds. Repeat 2–3 times if the first attempt only produces sputtering water.
The pump may sound louder than normal when air-locked. This is not a fault — it will quiet down once water fills the circuit.
Descale the machine
Limescale buildup in the thermoblock and internal tubing is a major cause of F71. Run the Miele descaling program using Miele descaling tablets or a citric acid solution as directed in the user manual.
Miele recommends descaling every 3 months or when the descale indicator appears. In hard-water areas, more frequent descaling may be needed.
Clean the brew unit and check flow
