LG Refrigerator Error Code 67 — Door Gap or Obstruction Detected

Easy Fix 5–15 minutes Tools: Level (optional)

What this means

The 67 error code on LG refrigerators (displayed as Er 67 or simply 67) indicates the control board has detected that a door is not fully sealed. This can be caused by a physical obstruction inside the refrigerator preventing the door from closing, a warped or damaged door gasket, a misaligned door, or items protruding from shelves or door bins. On InstaView Door-in-Door models, this code may also trigger if the inner InstaView panel is not properly seated. The refrigerator will continue running but will consume excess energy and may fail to maintain proper temperatures if the door gap persists.

Alternate codes: 67, E 67, Er-67

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check for obstructions

Open the refrigerator door and inspect all shelves, bins, and drawers. Look for items that may be protruding past the shelf edge and preventing the door from closing fully. Rearrange or remove any obstructing items.

Check the top shelf especially — tall bottles or containers are a common cause of door obstructions.

2

Inspect the door gasket

Run your hand along the entire perimeter of the door gasket (rubber seal). Feel for tears, gaps, folds, or areas where the gasket has pulled away from the door frame. A damaged gasket allows warm air in and can trigger a door error.

Close the door on a dollar bill at various points around the seal — if the bill slides out easily, the gasket is not sealing properly at that spot.

3

Check the InstaView panel (if equipped)

On InstaView Door-in-Door models, open the InstaView panel and close it firmly until it clicks. If the panel is slightly ajar, it can trigger the 67 error code.

Clean the InstaView panel edges and the magnetic seal area with a damp cloth to ensure a proper seal.

4

Level and align the refrigerator

If the refrigerator is not level, the doors may not close properly under their own weight. Use a bubble level on top of the unit and adjust the front leveling legs until the refrigerator is level or slightly tilted back so the doors swing closed on their own.

Most LG refrigerators are designed to be slightly tilted back (about 1/4 inch) so gravity helps the doors close.

When to call a professional

If the door gasket is damaged and needs replacement, or if the door hinge is bent and preventing proper alignment, a technician can replace the gasket or adjust/replace the hinge assembly.
