LG Styler Error Code dE — Door Error
What this means
The dE error code on the LG Styler indicates a door-related error. This code appears in two common scenarios: (1) the door is not fully closed when attempting to start a cycle, or (2) the door was closed while the Dehumidify cycle was in operation. During the Dehumidify cycle, the Styler door should be left open at approximately a 45-degree angle to allow moisture to escape. Closing the door during this specific cycle triggers the dE error. For all other cycles (Normal, Gentle Dry, Refresh, Sanitary, etc.), the door must be fully closed. The error can also appear if the door latch is damaged or misaligned.
Alternate codes: DE
Step-by-step fix
3 stepsClose (or open) the door correctly
If running a Dehumidify cycle: open the door to approximately 45 degrees and leave it ajar. The Dehumidify function requires airflow through the open door. If running any other cycle: close the door firmly until you hear it click into the latch.
The Dehumidify cycle is the only cycle that requires the door to be open. All other cycles need a closed and latched door.
Inspect the door latch and seal
Check the door latch mechanism for any visible damage, misalignment, or debris that could prevent the door from latching properly. Wipe the latch and strike plate with a damp cloth.
Items on hangers that are too bulky can push against the door and prevent it from closing fully.
Restart the cycle
After correcting the door position, press POWER off and then on again. Select your desired cycle and press START.
If dE continues to appear even with the door properly closed/open, power-cycle the Styler by unplugging for 1 minute.
When to call a professional
If the door latch mechanism is damaged or the dE code persists even when the door is in the correct position, a technician should inspect the latch assembly and door switch.
