LG Dryer Error Code BE — Drum Drive Belt Problem
What this means
The BE error code indicates the dryer has detected a problem with the drum drive belt. The belt connects the motor to the drum and is necessary for the drum to rotate. When the belt breaks or slips, the motor runs but the drum does not turn. Most LG dryers have a belt switch that detects when the belt is not properly tensioned.
Alternate codes: bE
Step-by-step fix
3 stepsPower-cycle the dryer
Unplug the dryer for 60 seconds and restart. A temporary sensor glitch may have triggered the code.
Check drum rotation by hand
Open the door and try to spin the drum by hand. If it spins very easily with no resistance, the belt is likely broken. There should be moderate resistance from the belt and idler pulley.
Replace the drum belt
Unplug the dryer. Remove the top and front panels to access the drum. Remove the broken belt and install a new one, threading it around the drum, idler pulley, and motor pulley in the correct configuration.
Take a photo of the belt routing before removing the old belt to ensure proper installation of the new one.
When to call a professional
Belt replacement is a common DIY repair, but if you are uncomfortable disassembling the dryer, a technician can do it in about 30 minutes.
