F3-E0

KitchenAid Oven Error Code F3-E0 — Open Oven Temperature Sensor

Moderate 20–40 minutes Tools: Phillips screwdriver, Multimeter

What this means

The F3-E0 error code on KitchenAid ovens indicates the oven temperature sensor (RTD) has an open circuit — it's reading infinite resistance. The sensor may be broken, a wire may be cut, or the connector may be loose. Without temperature feedback, the oven cannot regulate heat and won't operate.

Alternate codes: F3E0

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Test the oven temperature sensor

Unplug the oven. Locate the RTD sensor (a thin metal probe extending from the back wall inside the oven). Disconnect the sensor wires and test with a multimeter. At room temperature, it should read approximately 1,080–1,100 ohms. An OL (infinite) reading confirms an open circuit.

2

Check the wiring

If the sensor tests good at the sensor end, test at the control board end. A broken wire between the two points will show as open at the board even though the sensor is fine.

Wires near the oven cavity can degrade from repeated heat cycles.

3

Replace the sensor

If the sensor reads open, unscrew it from inside the oven, pull it out, feed in the new sensor, and reconnect. Test the oven at 350°F to confirm normal operation.

This is one of the most common and affordable oven repairs.

When to call a professional

If the sensor and wiring both test good, the control board's input circuit may be faulty.
