Jenn-Air Washer Error Code F8E1 — Low Water Flow

Moderate Repair 15–40 minutes Tools: Adjustable pliers, Toothbrush or small brush, Bucket, Multimeter (optional)

What this means

Error F8E1 (also displayed as LO FL on some models) on Jenn-Air washers indicates insufficient water flow into the drum. The pressure switch or flow meter does not detect the expected water level within the fill timeout period. Common causes include closed or partially closed water supply faucets, kinked fill hoses, clogged inlet screens, a failed water inlet valve, or low household water pressure. This error can also appear if both hot and cold supplies are required but only one is connected.

Alternate codes: F8 E1, LO FL

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Check water supply faucets

Locate the hot and cold water faucets behind or beside the washer. Turn both faucets fully counterclockwise to ensure they are completely open. Confirm water is flowing by disconnecting one hose at a time into a bucket — you should see strong, steady flow.

Both hot and cold valves must be open even if you only wash in cold — Jenn-Air washers require both connections to operate.

2

Clean the inlet hose screen filters

Turn off both water supply faucets. Disconnect the fill hoses from the back of the washer. Inside each hose connection on the washer, you will find a small mesh screen filter. Carefully pull each screen out with pliers and clean mineral deposits and debris with a toothbrush under running water. Reinstall the screens and reconnect the hoses.

Hard water areas can clog these screens quickly. If the screens are heavily calcified, soak them in white vinegar for 15 minutes before scrubbing.

3

Test the water inlet valve

If the supply is good and screens are clean, the water inlet valve may have failed. Unplug the washer and remove the top panel or rear access panel to reach the inlet valve. Disconnect the wire harness and use a multimeter to check each solenoid coil for continuity (typically 500–1500 ohms). No continuity means the valve must be replaced.

Inlet valves on Jenn-Air washers have separate solenoids for hot and cold. Test each coil individually — one may work while the other has failed.

When to call a professional

If inlet screens are clean, water supply is strong, and the inlet valve tests good, the pressure switch or main control board may be at fault — professional diagnosis is recommended.
