Err5

Haier Washer Error Code Err5 — Water Level Not Reached

Moderate Repair 15–35 minutes Tools: Adjustable pliers, Small brush, Multimeter, Bucket

What this means

Error code Err5 on Haier washers indicates the water level has not reached the expected fill level within the allotted time. The pressure switch or water level sensor never sent the 'full' signal to the control board. Common causes include closed or partially open water supply valves, kinked inlet hoses, clogged inlet valve filter screens, low household water pressure, a failed water inlet valve, or a faulty pressure switch/hose. Both hot and cold water supply lines must be connected for the washer to fill properly, even if cold wash is selected.

Alternate codes: E05, Er5

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check water supply connections

Verify both hot and cold water supply valves behind the washer are fully open. Ensure the inlet hoses are not kinked. Turn the valves off and back on to confirm they are not seized in a partially closed position.

Haier washers require both hoses to be connected and both valves open, even for cold-only wash cycles on some models.

2

Clean inlet valve screens

Turn off the water supply and disconnect both hoses from the back of the washer. Look at the inlet valve ports — each has a small mesh filter screen. Remove the screens with pliers, rinse them clean, and reinstall.

In areas with hard water, these screens clog with mineral deposits every 6–12 months.

3

Test the water inlet valve

If water supply is good and screens are clean, test the inlet valve solenoids. Unplug the washer, access the valve, disconnect the wire connectors, and test each solenoid with a multimeter. Expect 500–1500 ohms. OL means the coil is burned out.

On Haier models, the inlet valve is accessible from the back of the machine — remove the rear access panel.

4

Inspect the pressure switch and hose

If the inlet valve is good, check the pressure switch. Locate the small rubber hose from the tub to the switch. Ensure it is not kinked, cracked, or disconnected. Blow gently into the hose to test the switch — you should hear it click.

Water or detergent residue trapped in the pressure hose will give false water level readings.

When to call a professional

If all components test good but Err5 persists, the control board may not be activating the inlet valve. A technician can test the board's valve output.
