Haier Oven Error Code F1 — Runaway Temperature / Control Board Fault
What this means
Error code F1 on Haier ovens indicates a runaway temperature condition or a control board fault. The oven temperature has risen above the programmed temperature by a significant margin, or the electronic oven control (EOC) board has detected an internal error. Causes include a shorted oven temperature sensor that reports a falsely low temperature (causing the oven to keep heating), a relay on the control board that is stuck closed (keeping the element powered), or a failed control board processor.
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsTurn off the oven immediately
Press Cancel to turn off the oven. If the oven does not respond to Cancel, turn off the circuit breaker to cut power. An oven with F1 may continue heating uncontrolled.
Do not leave an oven displaying F1 unattended — this is a potential fire hazard if the heating element cannot be shut off.
Test the oven temperature sensor
Allow the oven to cool. Unplug the range. Access the temperature sensor probe at the top rear of the oven cavity — it inserts through the back wall. Disconnect the sensor wires and measure resistance. At room temperature, it should read approximately 1,080–1,100 ohms.
The sensor is an RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) — resistance increases linearly with temperature. At 350°F, expect about 1,900 ohms.
Check for a stuck relay on the control board
Restore power briefly and see if the oven element glows even with the oven turned off. If it does, the bake or broil relay on the control board is stuck closed. Cut power immediately and the board must be replaced.
A stuck relay is a serious safety issue — the oven heats continuously regardless of temperature setting.
Replace the faulty component
If the sensor is out of range, replace it. If the relay is stuck, replace the control board. The sensor is held by two screws at the back of the oven cavity. The control board is behind the back panel of the control console.
When replacing the control board, take photos of all wire connections before disconnecting.
When to call a professional
F1 with a stuck relay is a fire hazard. If you are not certain which component has failed, or if the oven continues to heat with power applied, leave the breaker off and call a certified technician.
