F8

Frigidaire Oven Error Code F8 — Meat Probe Malfunction

Easy Fix 10–20 minutes Tools: Multimeter, Soft cloth

What this means

The F8 error code on Frigidaire ovens indicates the meat probe plugged into the oven wall jack is sending a reading that is out of range. This can be caused by a damaged probe, a dirty or corroded jack, a broken probe wire, or an issue with the control board's probe input. The oven may still operate without the probe, but probe-assisted cooking features will not work.

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Unplug and clean the meat probe

Remove the meat probe from the oven wall jack. Inspect the plug pins for food residue, corrosion, or bent pins. Clean the plug and the jack opening with a dry soft cloth.

Food drippings can enter the jack during cooking and cause false readings.

2

Test the probe with a multimeter

Measure resistance across the probe's plug pins. At room temperature, the probe should read approximately 50,000 ohms. An open line (OL) means the probe wire is broken. A reading of 0 ohms means a short.

The exact resistance value varies by model. Check your oven's service manual for the specification.

3

Run the oven without the probe

Remove the probe and run a normal bake cycle. If the F8 error disappears, the probe is confirmed faulty. Replace it.

If the F8 code appears even with no probe inserted, the wall jack or the control board's probe circuit has a short.

4

Replace the meat probe

Order a Frigidaire-compatible replacement meat probe. Insert it into the jack and run a probe-assisted cycle to confirm normal operation.

Only use OEM or compatible probes rated for your model. Universal probes may not have the correct resistance value.

When to call a professional

If the error occurs with no probe plugged in, the jack wiring inside the oven or the control board input may be shorted. A technician should diagnose the internal circuit.
