EA1

Frigidaire Dryer Error Code EA1 — Power Frequency or Voltage Error

Advanced DIY 15–30 minutes Tools: Multimeter

What this means

Error code EA1 indicates the control board has detected that the incoming power frequency is outside the expected 60Hz range. EA2 means the voltage exceeds 130 VAC. These codes point to an issue with your home's electrical supply rather than the dryer itself.

Alternate codes: EA2

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Test the outlet voltage

Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the dryer outlet. A 240V outlet should read between 220–240 VAC across the two hot terminals.

Voltage above 250V or below 200V is abnormal and should be reported to your power company.

2

Check the circuit breaker

Inspect the dryer's double-pole breaker in the electrical panel. Turn it fully off, then back on. A partially tripped breaker can cause voltage irregularities.

If one leg of the 240V circuit has tripped, the dryer may receive only 120V on one phase.

3

Contact your power company

If voltage readings are abnormal, contact your electric utility. Power quality issues from the grid can cause these codes.

Power surges, brownouts, or generator usage can all trigger EA1/EA2 codes.

When to call a professional

If the outlet voltage is consistently abnormal, call a licensed electrician to inspect your home's wiring and panel.
