F10

Electrolux Oven Error Code F10 — Runaway Oven Temperature

Critical 25–50 minutes Tools: Phillips screwdriver, Multimeter, Nut driver (1/4 inch)

What this means

The F10 error code on Electrolux ovens and ranges indicates the oven temperature sensor (RTD probe) is detecting a temperature that has exceeded the maximum safe operating limit, or the sensor has failed and is sending an incorrect reading. This is a critical safety code — the oven will shut off all heating elements and lock the door if it has a self-cleaning lock. Common causes include a failed oven temperature sensor, a shorted sensor wire, or a control board relay that is stuck closed (keeping the element on).

Alternate codes: F 10

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Turn off the oven immediately

If the oven is still heating, press Cancel and then turn off the circuit breaker. An F10 runaway condition means the oven may be overheating. Do not use the oven until the issue is resolved.

If the oven continues to heat even after pressing Cancel, the relay is stuck — turn off the breaker immediately.

2

Test the oven temperature sensor

The oven temperature sensor is a metal probe typically mounted inside the oven on the back wall. Disconnect the two wires at the control board end and measure resistance. At room temperature, it should read approximately 1,080–1,100 ohms.

An RTD sensor that reads 0 ohms (shorted) will make the board think the oven is extremely hot.

3

Check the sensor wiring

Inspect the wires from the oven sensor to the control board. Look for any areas where the wiring may have been pinched, melted, or shorted against the oven cavity. A short between the sensor wires can cause false high-temperature readings.

The sensor wire often runs close to the oven cavity and can be damaged by heat over time.

4

Inspect the control board relays

If the sensor and wiring are fine but the oven is actually overheating, the bake or broil relay on the control board is likely stuck closed. Visually inspect the board for burn marks around the relays.

A stuck relay is dangerous — do not use the oven until the board is replaced.

When to call a professional

F10 is a safety-critical code. If you cannot determine whether it's a sensor issue or a stuck relay, call a professional. Never ignore this code.
