Dacor Oven Error Code F2 — Oven Over-Temperature Condition

Professional Repair 30–60 minutes Tools: Phillips screwdriver, Multimeter

What this means

Error code F2 on Dacor ovens and ranges indicates the oven cavity temperature has exceeded the maximum safe operating limit. The control board monitors temperature via the RTD sensor and shuts down heating elements when the temperature goes beyond the safety threshold. This is a critical safety code. Causes include a shorted temperature sensor (giving false low readings that cause continuous heating), a stuck relay on the control board that keeps a heating element energized, or a faulty control board. Since Dacor is now owned by Samsung, newer Dacor models may share some electronics with Samsung's premium oven platforms.

Alternate codes: F02, Error F2

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Turn off the oven immediately

Press Cancel/Off on the oven. If the heating element continues to glow after pressing Off, immediately turn off the circuit breaker. Do not use the oven until the cause is determined.

An element that stays on after the oven is turned off indicates a stuck relay on the control board — this is a fire hazard.

2

Allow the oven to cool completely

With the breaker off, allow the oven to cool to room temperature. This may take 45–60 minutes for a Dacor oven that has been overheating. Once cool, restore power briefly to check if F2 clears.

Open the oven door slightly to speed cooling, but keep the kitchen well-ventilated as considerable heat will be released.

3

Test the temperature sensor

Turn off power. Test the RTD sensor — it should read about 1,080–1,100 ohms at room temperature. A low reading (below 900 ohms) means the sensor is partially shorted and the control board sees a falsely high temperature, yet the oven keeps heating because of the discrepancy — or the sensor shows low which the board interprets as cold, so it overheats. Either way, replace a sensor with abnormal resistance.

A partially shorted sensor is more dangerous than a fully open one because it can cause subtle overheating that builds gradually.

4

Check for a stuck relay

With the oven set to Off and power restored, carefully check if any heating element becomes warm or glows. If it does, the bake or broil relay on the control board is stuck closed. The control board must be replaced.

Use extreme caution during this test. If an element energizes while the oven is Off, turn off the breaker immediately and do not restore power until the board is replaced.

When to call a professional

F2 is a safety-critical code. If you suspect a stuck relay or the oven overheats with a good sensor, contact a Dacor authorized service provider immediately. Do not attempt to bypass safety controls.
