Dacor Dishwasher Error Code tE — Temperature Sensor Fault

Moderate Repair 25–45 minutes Tools: Torx T20 screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, Multimeter

What this means

Error code tE on Dacor dishwashers indicates the NTC water temperature sensor has returned a reading outside the acceptable range. This sensor monitors wash water temperature throughout the cycle and provides feedback for the heater control. If disconnected, shorted, or failed, the control board cannot regulate heating safely and will stop the cycle. This code is similar to HE but specifically points to the sensor rather than the heating element itself.

Alternate codes: Error tE, Temperature Error

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Reset the dishwasher

Turn off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes and restore power. Start a new wash cycle. A temporary glitch or loose connection can cause a false tE code.

If tE appeared after a power outage or surge, a simple reset is often all that is needed.

2

Locate and test the NTC sensor

Turn off power. The NTC sensor is located in the sump area at the base of the wash tub. Access it from underneath or through the bottom of the tub. Disconnect the sensor wiring and test resistance — at room temperature it should read approximately 50,000 ohms (50K ohms).

A reading of zero means the sensor is shorted. A reading of infinity means it is open. Both require replacement.

3

Inspect the sensor wiring

Check the wire harness from the sensor to the control board for any damage. The dishwasher's warm, humid environment can corrode connections over time. Clean any corrosion with contact cleaner and reseat connectors.

Look for water damage on the connector pins — this is a common issue on under-counter dishwashers where steam can condense on wiring.

4

Replace the sensor

If the sensor reads out of range, remove it from the sump area (usually held by a clip or twist-lock) and install the replacement. Reconnect the wiring and test with a wash cycle.

When installing the new sensor, ensure it is seated properly in its housing for accurate temperature readings. A loose sensor will give erratic readings.

When to call a professional

If the sensor and wiring test fine but tE persists, the control board's temperature input circuit may be at fault. A Dacor technician can diagnose whether the board needs replacement.
