Dacor Dishwasher Error Code OE — Drain / Overflow Error

Moderate Repair 20–45 minutes Tools: Phillips screwdriver, Towels, Small container, Pliers

What this means

Error code OE on Dacor dishwashers indicates the unit has detected excess water — either an overflow condition or a failure to drain. The water level sensor has detected water above the maximum acceptable level. Causes include a clogged drain filter, a blocked drain hose, a faulty drain pump, a stuck check valve, or a kinked drain line. On Dacor dishwashers (built on Samsung's platform), OE is one of the most common error codes and usually points to a drainage obstruction.

Alternate codes: Error OE, 0E

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Clean the drain filter

Open the dishwasher door and remove the lower rack. Remove the drain filter assembly at the bottom of the tub — it typically twists counterclockwise to release. Clean the mesh filter and cylindrical filter thoroughly under running water, removing any food debris, grease, or foreign objects.

Dacor dishwashers have a multi-part filter system. Clean all parts — the outer mesh, inner cylinder, and the sump area beneath the filter.

2

Check the drain hose

Pull the dishwasher out to access the rear. Check the drain hose for kinks, blockages, or crushing. Disconnect the hose at the sink drain or garbage disposal connection and check for clogs. Ensure the hose has a high loop to prevent backflow.

If the dishwasher is connected to a garbage disposal, ensure the disposal knockout plug was removed during installation.

3

Test the drain pump

Listen when the dishwasher attempts to drain — you should hear the drain pump motor. No sound indicates a failed pump. If you hear humming but water does not drain, the pump impeller may be jammed with debris. Access the pump from under the dishwasher and check for obstructions.

Glass fragments and small bones are common debris that jam Dacor dishwasher drain pumps.

4

Check the check valve

Some Dacor dishwashers have a check valve in the drain line to prevent backflow. If this valve is stuck closed, water cannot drain. Locate it along the drain hose path and verify it opens freely in the drain direction.

The check valve can be tested by blowing through it in the drain direction — air should pass through. It should block air in the reverse direction.

When to call a professional

If the filter and hose are clear and the drain pump appears to have failed, a technician can efficiently replace the pump and test the system.
