E13

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E13 — Water Temperature Too High

Easy DIY Fix 10–20 minutes No tools needed

What this means

The E13 error indicates that the water entering the dishwasher is too hot — typically above 176°F (80°C). This usually means the household hot water heater is set too high, or the NTC sensor is misreading the water temperature. Excessively hot water can damage dishwasher components and plastic parts.

Step-by-step fix

3 steps
1

Check your water heater temperature

Your home water heater should be set to 120°F (49°C). If it is higher, lower the setting and wait 1–2 hours for the tank to cool.

Many water heaters are factory-set to 140°F, which is too hot for most dishwashers.

2

Run the hot water tap

Before starting the dishwasher, run the hot water tap at the kitchen sink until it feels warm but not scalding. This purges any overly hot water from the line.

This is a good practice before every dishwasher cycle for better cleaning results.

3

Test the NTC sensor

If the water heater is set correctly and the error persists, the NTC temperature sensor may be reading incorrectly. Test it with a multimeter.

A faulty sensor reading high will trigger E13 even with normal water temperature.

When to call a professional

If your water heater temperature is correct and the sensor tests fine, contact a technician for further diagnosis.
