Amana Washer Error Code LF — Long Fill
What this means
The LF error code on Amana top-load washers means the machine is not filling with water quickly enough. This is the top-load equivalent of the F8 E1 code. Common causes are closed water supply valves, kinked fill hoses, clogged inlet screens, low water pressure, or a faulty water inlet valve.
Alternate codes: Lf, F8 E1
Step-by-step fix
4 stepsVerify water supply is on
Check that both hot and cold water faucets behind the washer are fully open.
Both must be on even if you wash in cold only.
Inspect fill hoses
Check for kinks, bends, or pinches in the hot and cold fill hoses. Replace old rubber hoses with braided stainless steel hoses.
Clean inlet screens
Turn off water, disconnect hoses from the washer, and remove the small mesh screens from the inlet valve ports. Clean them under running water.
Sediment and mineral deposits commonly clog these screens over time.
Test the inlet valve
If water flow is still inadequate, test the inlet valve solenoids with a multimeter. Each should read 500–1500 ohms. Replace the valve if a solenoid is open.
Also check your household water pressure — it should be at least 20 PSI.
When to call a professional
If water pressure and the inlet valve are fine but the code persists, the flow meter or pressure switch may need professional diagnosis.
