F8 E1

Amana Washer Error Code F8 E1 — Low Water Flow

Easy Fix 10–30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Small brush or toothpick, Bucket

What this means

The F8 E1 error code indicates the washer is not filling with water fast enough or at all. Common causes include closed water supply valves, kinked inlet hoses, clogged inlet screens, a faulty water inlet valve, or low household water pressure. This code may also display as LO FL on some models.

Alternate codes: F8E1, LO FL

Step-by-step fix

4 steps
1

Check the water supply valves

Verify that both hot and cold water supply valves behind the washer are fully open. Turn them counterclockwise to open if they are partially or fully closed.

Both valves must be open even if you only wash in cold water.

2

Inspect the inlet hoses

Check the hot and cold fill hoses for kinks, bends, or pinching. Straighten any kinks and ensure the hoses are not crushed behind the machine.

Replace hoses that are more than 5 years old, especially rubber ones, as they can develop internal blockages.

3

Clean the inlet valve screens

Turn off water supply and disconnect the hoses from the back of the washer. Remove the small mesh filter screens from inside the inlet valve ports. Clean them under running water with a small brush.

Have a bucket and towels ready — water will drain from the hoses when disconnected.

4

Test the water inlet valve

If screens are clean and water pressure is good, the inlet valve solenoid may be faulty. Use a multimeter to check each solenoid coil for continuity (should read between 500–1500 ohms).

A valve that hums but does not open has a stuck plunger and needs replacement.

When to call a professional

If water pressure is good, hoses and screens are clear, and the inlet valve tests fine, the flow meter or control board may need professional diagnosis.
